Hack-a-thon II Introduction

What will I gain from this?
Hands-on experience in coding for the Cell processor with experts from IBM, Mercury, and RapidMind at your side. No question is too dumb, no challenge too great. Bring a cluster application, optimism, and enthusiasm.

In addition to a discount to the Power Architecture Developers Conference, all attendees will receive a "Hack-a-thon II" T-shirt and Yellow Dog Linux flexible flier (cloth 'frisbee') or coffee mug.
Who is attending?
An anticipated 100 individuals from DoE labs, universities, corporations, Terra Soft Solutions, IBM, Mercury Computer, and RapidMind.
What is the working environment?
Hosted in the new Austin Convention Center, Ballroom G, Hack-a-thon II will be maintained in a similar casual environment as the first Hack-a-thon where individuals are encouraged to find a cozy corner, snuggle up with their own laptop and/or PS3, and get to work.
All work and no play?
NO WAY! Terra Soft and Power.org are hosting a number of game boxes: Nintendo Wiis, XBox 360s, PS3s. And of course, Austin is home to fantastic food, music, and outdoor activities. A cultural, educational, and technological epicenter. Learn more about Austin, visit www.austintexas.org and www.austinwebpage.com
What is provided? What do I need to bring?
Terra Soft will provide direct access to a Sony PS3 cluster. Participants should bring their own laptop with both wireless card and ethernet jack and if they desire, a PS3.
What is the cost?
All attendees of the Hack-a-thon II must register for the Power Architecture Developer Conference. However! As a sponsor of both events, Power.org is providing a substantial discount to all Hack-a-thon II attendees. To register for both Hack-a-thon II and the DevCon, START HERE.
